ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರ ಒಳಪ್ರವೇಶಿಸಿದ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ನ ಮೇಕೆದಾಟು ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರಿಗಳು ನಿನ್ನೆ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಬವಣೆಯಿಂದ ಬಸವಳಿದಿರುವ ರಾಜಧಾನಿಗೆ ಕಾವೇರಿ ನೀರಿನ ಮಹತ್ವ ತಲುಪಿಸಿತು.
ಮೇಕೆದಾಟು ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಪಕ್ಷವು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರೆಗೆ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ನಗರ, ಹೊರವಲಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಿಂದ ಜನಸಾಗರವೇ ಹರಿದುಬಂದಿತ್ತು.
ನೀರಿನ ವಿಚಾರದ ಮೂಲಕ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾವೇರಿ ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ಜೊತೆ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಪ್ರದರ್ಶನ ಮಾಡಿತು. ಬಿಸಿಲನ್ನು ಲೆಕ್ಕಿಸದೆ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು, ಯುವಕರು, ಯುವತಿಯರು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಸಾವಿರಾರು ಮಂದಿ ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಹಕ್ಕಿಗಾಗಿ ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಹಾಕಿದರು. ಮೂರನೇ ದಿನದ ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರೆಯು ಮೈಸೂರು ರಸ್ತೆಯ ಪೂರ್ಣಿಮಾ ಪ್ಯಾಲೇಸ್ ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಮಂಟಪ 9.45ಕ್ಕೆ ಆರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. 17 ಕಿ.ಮೀ. ದೂರದವರೆಗೆ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ ಹಾಕಿದ ಕಾಂಗ್ರೆಸ್ ಮುಖಂಡರು, ಕಾರ್ಯಕರ್ತರು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಬಿಟಿಎಂ ಲೇಔಟ್ ತಲುಪಿದರು. ಮೈಸೂರು ರಸ್ತೆಯ ರಾಜರಾಜೇಶ್ವರಿನಗರ, ನಾಯಂಡಹಳ್ಳಿ ಜಂಕ್ಷನ್, ಹೊರ ವರ್ತುಲ ರಸ್ತೆ ಹೊಸಕೆರೆಹಳ್ಳಿ, ಪದ್ಮನಾಭನಗರ, ಸಾರಕ್ಕಿ, ಬನಶಂಕರಿ, ಜಯನಗರ, ಜಯದೇವ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಪಾದಯಾತ್ರೆಗೂ ಸಾಗಿ ಬಂದಿತ್ತು. ಮುಖೇನ ರಾಜರಾಜೇಶ್ವರಿನಗರ, ಗೋವಿಂದ ರಾಜನಗರ, ವಿಜಯನಗರ, ಪದ್ಮನಾಭನಗರ, ಬಸವನಗುಡಿ, ಜಯನಗರ ವಿಧಾನಸಭಾ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಗ್ರಹ ರಣಕಹಳೆ ಮೊಳಗಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
